9 February 2010There is one variation of online poker that incorporates several game formats. This game is known as H.O.R.S.E. based on the names of the online poker games that are played in each successive round: Hold ‘Em, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz (Seven Card Stud Lo), Seven-Card Stud, and Stud Eight or Better (Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo). Players are drawn to HORSE because of the variety and challenge of playing so many different types of poker game, all of which have different rules and strategies. Since HORSE involves so many complex concepts related to poker, it is often considered the most challenging form of the game, and its winners the best of the best. It is played as a championship event at the WSOP with the winner earning a coveted WSOP bracelet. HORSE begins with a round of limit Texas Hold ‘Em, then limit Omaha hi-lo, followed by the other game formats. Once the Seven Card Stud hi-lo round is complete, it begins again with Hold ‘Em. Switching into a new game with each round tests each player’s skills. Playing HORSE online is a great way to gain experience in several variations of poker. The insights you gain from each different game will give a better perspective on all your poker playing. Though Texas Hold ‘Em is still the most popular poker played in the world today, mixing it with a little HORSE can break up the monotony of playing the same game all the time and you might even discover that you have a better aptitude for one game over another.
